The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League is set to take center stage – key things to note ahead of the season.
Eighteen clubs, one interest, thirty-six games are set to be rolled out, die hard fans in anticipation, football pundits are charged up, no stone has been left on turned as the new Ghana Premier League season is set to wow the world.
In that vein, clubs have recruited the services of players they deem fit for respective positions as they intend to build a formidable side for the season.
Further, pre-season for clubs as they prep towards the new season has been largely successful with new signees seizing the opportunity to bond with their new club.
This being said, a close look at the eighteen clubs and what they have been up to during their off-season dealings in the foreground to the new season which will serve as a proper test.
Which clubs have made some very significant signings:

Mynewsanchor sports reports suggest that, Karela United FC were very busy in the transfer window as they signed the shot stopper for Golden Kicks, Kelvin Kofi Saaba, and the highly rated winger, Bless Ege.

These recruitments made by the Northern based club has improved the squad depth of the team hence, repositioning Karela United in a much better position ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Premier league giant, Accra Hearts of Oak after employing the services of the veteran coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has already started to bear positive fruits as our claims can is based on the Hearts of Oak performance they displayed at the 2025 GHALCA top-four competitions.
Whiles many Ghanaian sports journalist are alluding to the fact that, the Oak team being led by Coach Didi now plays with a lot of confidence and clearly, the prints of the coach is being felt and seen.
Now to the two Kumasi based club, Nations FC and Asante Kotoko, the anticipation expectations from club administration and their fans with reagards to both clubs winning the league would not materialize in this new season.
Based on the fact that, Kumasi Asante Kotoko would definitely prioritize their quest to have a good outing in the CAF Confederation Cup and that would certainly not aid them in performing in the league.
Plus, the current team of Asante Kotoko is yet to gel properly after they signed a chunk of their players during the just ended transfer window.
Now, Nations FC heading into the latter stages of last season showed glimpses of why they are still not a team to via for the Ghana Premier League title. They have one of the best attacking fronts in the league however, they are a team that have lost some of their players due to transfers and that would hinder their quest to win the league.
Sports journalist, Menkah Jacob outlines his GPL top-four:
- Accra Hearts of Oak
- Aduana Stars
- Karela United
- Nations FC
Is the Ghana Premier League a lucrative venture?
For a league which lacked zero sponsorship during last season’s competition, a club administrator for Nations FC during last season as well fumed out his plight as he complained bitterly of how poor the league was.
In this light, the story of zero funds from the organizers of the league, i.e, the Ghana Football Association being headed by Mr Kurt E.S Okraku with his team has finally secured a funds for each GPL club ahead of the start of the season.
The GFA has announced that, each GPL club will receive a sum of one million Ghana cedis before the season kick-starts under the partnership with Adesa Production.
More so, there has been a significant improvement in the cash prize for the league winners. The GFA announce that, the winner of the will receive two million Ghana cedis whiles second place will take home one million cedis plus third place will also bag 800,000 cedis and al clubs will also receive an amount at the end of the season depending on their respective position.
