FC Barcelona sporting director, Deco has shared the club’s interest to further cement the stay of some players as they begin contract extension negotiations.
Spanish La-Liga giant, FC Barcelona’s director, Deco in an interview with a media outlet in Spain has expressed the club’s intention to extend the contracts of some players who are viewed by the club as untouchables.
On Wednesday, November 13, club director, Deco iterated that, Gavi’s name would not be entered on the summer transfer list hence, no amount of transfer fee by any club will be accepted by the club for the La-Masia graduate to move from the club.
“I can see Gavi signing new contract with us at Barca, for sure. Gavi personifies everything that Barca is. He is a special player. He is only 20 but it looks like he is 26 or 27. When a player wants to stay, it will be done,” He stated.
Deco further assured the Barcelona fans that, the club would surely seal the contract extension negotiation involving another La-Masia graduate, Pedri as he is one integral member of the current Barca set-up.
“Pedri’s contract renewal will happen because he wants to succeed at Barca. He wants to make history here. We are focused on winning important titles this season, but also on guaranteeing the future of key players and Pedri is one of them,” Deco added.
He additionally reacted to the club’s intention regarding the contract extension of Frankie de Jong, “it’s normal process. He’s a top quality player, we are working on contracts also considering our limits. We keep working in silence on that, it’s my plan.”
Plus, Deco seized the opportunity to discuss Araujo’s contract extension, “I imagine that Araujo wants to be part of our project. We’re working on it but it’s important that the players’ ideas are in line with ours. We know what we want but it always depends on the players.”
