The Confederation of African Football (CAF) as organizers of the Women’s Champions League in the continent have revised the remunerations for each qualified club in the 2024 Women’s Champions League (WCL).
In the last three editions of the CAF Women’s Champions League, African women teams that have participated have gained nothing to write home about in terms of the monetary value of the tournament.
Taking a quick look at the first edition which had no cash prize to the fourth edition which has now seen a lot of value in terms of money for clubs who will secure qualification into the 2024 edition which will take place in a north African country, Morocco.
Today, November 7, 2024, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have release a press statement, indicating the amount each club that gain qualification will pocket, “each of the eight (8) African Women Football Clubs that are participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024 will receive at least USD$150,000 in prize money.”
It further indicated that, the prize money and the ultimate winner has been increased by a little over 50%. The letter outlined, “this year’s prize money has increased by 52% to USD$ 2,350,000. The winner will receive USD$ 600,000.”
CAF stipulated in their letter that, the confederation, “is committed to developing and growing Women’s Football in Africa and the objective of President Motsepe is to invest in Youth Academies for boys and girls and to continue increasing the prize monies of all CAF Competitions to make them globally competitive and attractive.”

Winner: USD $600,000
Runner up: USD $400,000
3rd place: USD $350,000
4th Place: USD $300,000
3rd of the Group: USD $200,000 each
4th of the Group: USD $150,000 each
