Exclusive: The glorious red side of Manchester are fatigued; Can Ruben Amorim be deemed as the emancipator?

Manchester United FC have been on the bad patch of seasons since the 2014 and yet no solutions to revive the club into it glorious days, can the new head coach, Ruben Amorim be viewed as the man for the job.

Since the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson, the best head coach to ever be in charge of Manchester United in the Premier League era, series of managers have walked into the dressing room of the club with a lot of traditions which is very much enviable by numerous club.

Delving in more with Sir Alex Ferguson’s golden track record as a manager of Manager since he was appointed in November, 1986. The Scottish manager exhausted a chunk of his life at the club whiles orchestrating indelible memories in Manchester United’s history.

He won a record of thirteen English premier league titles, five FA Cups, two UEFA Champions League cup titles, plus the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and several other domestic trophies in his two decades and six years stint with Manchester United.

After Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson made his decision to retire from coaching in the 2012/13, David Moyes was handed the managerial job but did not even complete two seasons before he was slapped with a sacking letter, a club legend, Ryan Giggs managed just four games only for the Dutch manager, Louis van Gaal to be given the job and he also failed to achieve his main target, which was to win the Premier League.

Further, the former Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan manager, popularly known by the Chelsea fans as the ‘special one’ was appointed as the new manager since he had proven to be a serial winner and at the time, had led Chelsea to win the Premier League while Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of Manchester United.

However, Jose Mourinho also slacked but did fairly well to win the UEFA Europa Cup, which was the only title missing in the trophy cabinet of Manchester United and got so close as he secured the second position on the league log yet, he was not meeting the expectations of the club and hence was asked to exit the club for another club legend, Ole Gunner was brought in as an interim coach but his performance in his few games as a coach forced the club administration to stick with him for three years which also did not yield any positive results.

Manchester United on several occasion have rolled back to zero in their quest to clinch onto their glory days and hence, another decision was taken by the club for another Dutch and former Ajax FC manager, Erik ten Hag to be named as the possible savior of the club from the dark modes the club has found itself in the past eleven years.

That decision did not take long for the club to distance themselves from Erik ten Hag after just ten games in the 2024/25 English premier league season for a Portuguese young coach, who had his internship at Manchester United in 2018 under Jose Mourinho.

The question now pops up again, is Ruben Amorim the best man to save a club with huge followings and traditions, which cannot be overlooked for even a minute?

Ruben Amorim, 39, relatively a young coach who has been given the mandate to lead the charge at Manchester United would seek to make history and attract a much more legendary status before exiting the club since football fanatics and pundits across the world deem him as a coach hungry for success in his coaching career.

Can Ruben Amorim’s hunger to succeed as a coach at Manchester United be enough to see him through with flying colors and instill the stability and further propel the club into the higher height which will increase the number of titles the club presently possesses?

Manchester United FC have been on a trajectory of ascending back to were they as a club had decline from as they made the decision to entrust the club into the hands of a young coach who has only made a name for himself at Sporting CP, in a league which is of relatively lower standards as compared to the English premier league.

As I have heard many pundits such as, Liverpool FC and England legend, Michael Owen make statements which points to the fact that, Ruben Amorim is the best bet for Manchester United FC.

Therefore, linking up with the projections of the administration of Manchester United, being spear headed by Sir Jim Ratcliff and in conjunction with Ruben Amorim, they are set to off-load not less than fifty percent of the squad in the senior team following reports from the technical staff of the team, a large part of the senior team players are not players that are cut for the coach’s style of play and the formation he mostly deploys.

Hence, there is a significant vacuum that needs to be created in order not for the club to caught in the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. The drastic decisions to ship off most players are set to take place in both the winter January or summer transfer window.

Currently, the untouchable players in the squad are Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Leny Yoro, Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho and a space to accommodate one other player which is yet to be decided upon.

Ruben Amorim has been informed by the club administrators of their keen interest to see the club been elevated back into the club, that was a title contender in every season. As things stand, Manchester United is just a great with great past history but cannot be found in the list of top clubs, who are fighting for titles in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Manchester United as club has zero tolerance for young lads who would need time to develop into their full potentials however, they have now resorted to fishing out young talents across the world and bring them into their academy for them to grow into their full compliments before joining the senior team.

Formerly, these were the plans of mid-table teams but Manchester United are now adopting such formats and these decisions are for future projects and hence, does not produce the instant results the club seeks to achieve.

Manchester United are in the reports of being on the verge of securing a 17-year-old Paraguayan defender, Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno. The parent club of Diego are demanding $5 million including add-ons.

More so, a club as big as Manchester United can only get back to the drawing board and redefined what the club stands for, if not, they are only failing to plan and that would also mean that, they have planned to failed.
