Exclusive: Why Liverpool and Manchester City can’t secure the services of Martin Zubimendi

Spanish and Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi’s possible transfer deal to Liverpool FC in the last summer transfer window had bagged a great lot of interest but the deal did not see the light of the day which was as a result of the player wanting to stay at the club hence, extending his contract.

However, top clubs in the English premier league have appreciated Zubimendi’s talent as a midfielder and would wish to secure the services of the Spaniard in the forth coming January transfer market.

Clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in bringing in an anchor man casted in the mode of Fernandinho, Rodri, and Partey who are the best in that position on the field.

Now, the big question, is Martin Zumbimendi ready to depart from his childhood club? Real Sociedad as a club are opened to dish out Zubimendi to any club who is set to pay the asking transfer fee but they will on do that on the preferable terms of the player as both parties have huge respect and a good relationship to protect.

On Monday, December 23, 2024, Real Sociedad’s director, Mr Olabe indicated that, Zubimendi has a release clause however, the club won’t sell him to any club who wants to purchase unless the player gives his consent.

“Zubimendi has a release clause, yes… but it’s always for the player to decide and he’s been showing how committed he is to our project. So far, we’ve seen how he has behaved and I don’t predict any ‘scares’ in January for Zubimendi,” he said

For clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City who would not mind building another heaven and earth in order to secure the services of the 25-year-old will rather have to dig deeper since Zubimendi as a player is not largely vested into the financial bargains but wants a place he can feel at home and play the game of football but is certainly ready to move in the January transfer window.

What’s more, Liverpool’s quest to revamp their midfield, Manchester City’s interest to quench the doom their team is facing as a result of the absence of Rodri, and Arsenal’s plans to bring in a defensive midfielder for the future would all have to look elsewhere since Spanish giants, Real Madrid are on a journey to poach Zubimendi which seems to be working out.

Real Sociedad currently values Martin Zubimendi at a fee of sixty million euros and Real Madrid are favorite to secure the services of the player whom is deem as an upgrade of Aurelie Tchouameni.
