John Mahama appoints first batch of ministerial nominees; Ato Forson, John Jinapor and Dominic Akuritinga features

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has named his first set of ministerial nominees to the Speaker of parliament.

Today, January 9, 2024, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama has enlisted his initial set of candidates who he deems fit to form the cabinet when approved by the legislature.

According to the 1992 constitution, Article 78 clearly authorizes the head of the executive arm of government to appoint his choice of individuals to make up the cabinet however, the Legislature which is being headed by the Speaker of Parliament will have to conduct thorough probe by setting up a committee who willhave the mandate of interviewing and giving the approval to the nominees.

President Mahama abiding by the constitution has provide a list of technocrats who are on the verge of undergoing vetting for Parliament to give their approval.

Below are the first batch of names:

  • Honorable Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson – Minister for Finance Designate
  • Honorable John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister for Energy Designate
  • Honorable Dominic Akuritinga Ayini – Attorney General and Minister for Justice Designate
