English and Manchester United’s central midfielder, Mason Mount is set to be on the sidelined not due to technical reasons but as a result of another injury set-back which he sustained in the Manchester derby league game on last two weeks Sunday’s game.
Mason Mount seem to have carried along his bad injury situation which saw him on the sidelines most often in his last season with Chelsea before he joined made the astonishing transfer move to Manchester United.
During last season, a chunk of the games played by Manchester United was always characterized by the absence of Mason Mount who’s services were of much essence if he was available to provide his service hence, forcing the immediate past manager, Erik ten Hag introducing the likes of Kobbie Mainoo from the youth side.
Now, in this 2024/25 current season, Mount has not been lucky when it comes staying fit and making himself available for the team.
Prior to the first game for Ruben Amorim as the newly appointed head coach of Manchester United, he asserted that the kind of formation he deploys as a coach is very suitable a player like Mason Mount and certainly, he is a key component of his team.
“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid. You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. This is the most important thing. He played in this system, so it’s perfect for him.. I have two positions for Mason Mount so he should be very happy,” Amorim stated in his first press conference as Manchester United’s head coach on November 23, 2024.
Fast forward, the 25-year-old’s professional footballing career seem to be in descending curve week-in-week as he is failing to stay fit for the game. Mason Mount as things stand is set to begin his recover from a leg injury which he sustained in the Manchester derby when Ruben Amorim was forced to sub him off as he signaled to the medical staff of a pain in his leg after being on the pitch for just fourteen minutes in the first-half.
Meanwhile, Mount has already exhausted three months on the sidelines as he was working on a calf injury he sustained. The England international has made twelve league appearances this season for Manchester United.
Five days ago, Ruben Amorim in his pre-match presser when quizzed about the details of Mason Mount’s injury situation had admitted that, the player will be out for a while hence, the player will need the support of everyone in order to recover fully.
“He is out, still injured. He’s really sad. In the dressing room he was really, really sad so we need to help him. When a player is in this moment with a lot of injuries and with this schedule, it’s really hard for them,” Amorim said.
