Manchester United’s newly appointed head coach, Ruben Amorim has disclosed his interest in manning the coaching job vacancy at the English club.
In a post-match interview with the out-going Sporting CP manager, Ruben Amorim after leading his side on Friday, November 1, 2024 in a resounding victory against Estrela opened up on subjects regarding his appointment as Manchester United’s new head coach.
Ruben Amorim had said that, he received many job offers from top clubs with enticing offers however, he declined because he was convinced about his ability to succeed at Manchester United.
“I’ve received approaches from many clubs in the recent months… but the club I wanted was Manchester United. There is no Sporting fan who wanted me to stay until the end of the season more than I did. But it wasn’t possible.
“Some people say I joined Man United for money, it’s not. Other clubs were prepared to pay three times more and I refused… as this is the club I wanted: Man United,” he said at the post-match press conference.
Additionally, Ruben when asked whether he has the potency of turning the underwhelming performances of the team into a team that has the capacity to yield results in football games, “well, this is exactly the context I wanted because I can do things my way.”
Ruben Amorim further addressed the question of which back-room staff does he intend to work with at Manchester United, “I’m going to take my coaching staff with me at Manchester United.” He asserted, “they are absolutely key for me. We’ve been together since Casa Pia. It was one of the conditions.”
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim was quizzed to provide his thoughts with respect to Sporting CP’s center-forward, Viktor Gyokeres links to Manchester United, “I’m not going to come for any Sporting player in January. These years at Sporting have been the best years of my life and I won’t forget that.”
