The ongoing 2024/25 UEFA Champions League group stages second face experienced a clash between an English club, Arsenal FC and a French Club, Paris Saint Germain in a fiercely competed night of football.
Both clubs served the footballing world with nothing short of world class super performance which ended in a 2:0 win for the home side. Both teams, Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain heading into the game had never clinch on the Champions League and hence, were in the same boat of fighting spirit which seeks to propel them into winning the title even though it is still in the early stages of the competition.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta playing the game at the club’s home grounds, Emirate Stadium and having it the the back of his mind that he failed to bag a win at their first outing while Luis Enrique on the other side was able to secure a win their first group game.
Therefore both managers approached the game in an all attacking and a conservative team set-up respectively. However, the home side, playing with the twelve man which is their supporters did not hesitate to bury the game after the first 45 minute of the game.
Arsenal bagged two goals through the kind courtesy of Kai Havertz and the captain of the team’s captain, Bukayo Saka who took their chances to hand over a well deserving win which also makes it four points, a draw in their first game and a maximum three points in their second game.
Bukayo Saka had some few words to share in his post-match interview as he highlighted the few words he said to the lads before the game, “when I was speaking with the boys in the team talk before the game, I told them: we have to make a big statement tonight.
“We have not shown out full quality in Europe against big opponents, tonight yes… but we need to do that also now,” Bukayo concluded.
In addition, Kai havertz’s performance on the night was phenomenal and hence was enough for him to be adjudged the UEFA player of the match. Meanwhile, Merino made his debut for Arsenal as he was subbed in for Thomas Partey in the last 20 minutes to the end of the game.
