The Ghana Sports Fund (GSF) account has been slapped with a gigantic amount from a donation made by the National Investment Bank on Friday, February 13, 2026.
A delegation from National Investment Bank trooped into Ministry of Sports and Recreation, seeking to express their utmost support for the growth of Ghana’s sports as they made a financial donation into the designated bank account of the landmark Sports Fund.
The Sports Fund legislation bill was passed into law last year, December 18, 2026 after thorough parliamentary deliberations, debates and inter-agency collaborations has since seen the light of the day.
Last Friday, GSF was blessed with a sum of hundred thousand (100,000) as their initial financial support from the National Investment Bank. This kind gestures was duly appreciated by the sector minister, Honorable Kofi Iddie Adams.
“Yesterday marks an important milestone for Ghana sports – I’m deeply grateful to the Management of NIB, for this show of confidence in our vision to reset and properly resource sports development in our country,” the minister said.
Further, the Member of Parliament for Buem constituency highlighted the significance of funding into sports and why NIB’s donation would have a positive ripple effect on the restructuring and growth of sports in Ghana.

“Funding has always been one of the biggest constraints in Ghana Sports. This contribution is not just financial support, it is a statement of belief that structured, transparent investment can change the story of our athletes and our institutions,” He said.
While at it, Minister for Sports and Recreation traded words of assurance as he pledge to supervise an accountable and transparent Sports Fund which would yield beneficial results.
“I want to assure the good people of Ghana that every Cedi received into the Ghana Sports Fund will be used strictly for the purpose for which the Fund was established; to strengthen systems, support talent, and build sustainable sports development,” Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams stated.
Under President John Mahama’s administration, he has tasked the Ministry of Sports and Recreation with the guidance of the sector minister to realign and position Ghana’s sports ecosystem into a revenue generating world which plays significant roles in the national development agenda.
