‘It’s unfortunate to judge coaches by the outcomes of games’- Didi Dramani

Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has justified the reasons for which fingers are not supposed to be directed to coaches when their teams fail to win games against opposition.

Earlier this week, Asante Kotoko after loosing on a 4-2 penalty shootout against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium have saw their coach Karim Zito resign from his duties as the head coach of Kotoko.

To that effect, Hearts of oak head coach, Didi Dramani, speaking to Joy Sports on Thursday, 12 February, 2026, reacted to why coaches are sacked for poor or unfavourable results, “this is normal, this is not the first time he [coach Karim Zito] has walked off from the coaching industry and this is not going to be the last time. It’s always like that and it is very unfortunate when people don’t understand the rudiments of the game but sometimes that is what it takes.”

Didi Dramani defended his colleague coaches, claiming, “coaches are not responsible for the outcomes of games but many at times they are seen as the solely responsible men for the outcomes of games. We are very much responsible for the way our teams play and for the way our teams will perform and the way they will behave but the outcomes sometimes is very difficult to control.

“Because you don’t control the decisions the player makes, you control the chemistry of the team and other aspects, the direction and everything. But the decisions the players make on the pitch at that moment – that is why I said we want to improve on key moments of the game. Coaches don’t control that, you can’t control when he [players] have to pass the ball, head the ball, head the ball, shoot the ball and cross the ball, you can’t control it.

“It comes in a split second but you control the key moment cues and modules you have to put in place for players to improve. But sometimes or many at times, coaches are rather judged by results of the outcomes of games but normally, they are not suppose to be responsible for the outcomes of games,” Didi said.

In conclusion, Hearts of are in preparation as they face archrivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday, 15 February, 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
