Karim Zito has opted to resign from his responsibility as the head of the technical staff of Kumasi Asante Kotoko after failing to achieve the club’s target of booking a slot in any of the CAF inter-club competitions.
It’s been barely 48-hours since Coach Karim Zito led Asante Kotoko to crash out of the 2026 MTN FA Cup in the most ignominious fashion. The outcome of the round of 16 MTN FA Cup clash against Aduana FC was not embraced with calm heads by the fans hence, causing a turmoil between the leadership of the team with respect to whether the head coach should be at post or not.
In that vein, Kumasi Asante Kotoko in an official statement released through their social media page have indicated that, Coach karim Zito have presented a letter seeking to be relieved of his duties as the head coach of Asante Kotoko.
“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Additionally, the statement spelt out the club’s decision with respect to the resignation letter presented to the administration, “management has accepted the resignation letter, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for his future.”
Meanwhile, the statement failed to indicate why Karim Zito’s resignation was accepted however, did not hesitate to claim that, ” the new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.””
