Marcos Llorente has officially announced his singular decision to walk away from the Spanish senior national team after over a decade of service.
The 31-year-old Spaniard in the early hours of today broke the sad-reality of his interest to call it a day from representing the Spanish football team in international competitive games.
In a post shared to the public, Llorente admitted that his decision to hang his boots from international football might come off as a hasty one however, he insist it’s the best decision.
“I have decided to bring my time with the Spanish national team to an end despite I’m aware that I’m still young. It is a personal decision.
Adding that, “… I have thought about it very carefully and, above all, one that comes from the heart. It has been an honor to represent my country,” Marcos Lliorente stated.
Meanwhile, in sixteen years of being a squad member of the senior national team, the versatile right-back rack up an impressive twenty-seven appearances with no goal contributions.
However, his efforts in the senior national team earned him a place in the Spaniard team, were he participated in three major tournaments – that is, UEFA Euro 202, FIFA World Cup 2022 and 2026.
