“One of the largest investible capitals is pension funds’ – Dr Asiama

Ghana’s central bank governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama has ironed out the significance of restructuring the country’s financial system in reference to past financial policies which sort to cause mayhem in the banking sector.

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama during the inauguration of Technical Committee and Steering Committee at the Bank Square, he iterated ethos and importance of the committees as they seek to take responsibility of the Bank Listing and Project.

Governor Asiama indicated that, the project is “not a technical or procedural exercise, but a strategic response to structural changes already underway in our financial system.”

In the wisdom of Ghana’s Governor for the Bank of Ghana, appreciable amounts of monies are accumulated on a yearly bases from the pension funds hence, the need to step up structural policies to enable the fund to yield profits.

“With the pension fund topping GHc 100 billion, Ghana has one of the largest pools of investible capital in the economy. He stressed that banks listings promote transparency, market discipline, and deliberately connecting long-term domestic savings to the banking system,” Dr Asiama asserted.

In conclusion, the Governor charged the two committees to manufacture a, ” framework that is practical, credible, and grounded in Ghana’s realities.
