The win further propelled Arsenal as a keen contender for the English premier league title which has caused Chelsea to stumble back into the third place spot with Nottingham Forest occupying the fourth position with thirty-four points and just a point deficit behind Chelsea, two points behind second place Arsenal and eight points behind Liverpool, who are current league leaders with an enviable forty-two points.
Kai Havertz’s twenty-third minute goal was more than enough to claim the much needed three maximum points which was significant in keeping their hopes of winning the Premier League title.
In a post-match interview with England and Arsenal’s anchor in the heart of midfield, Declan Rice in his response to what the win meant to the team’s target to win the English top-flight title, “hopefully, new year will bring trophies! This club deserves it. Winning games is great, but it means nothing if we don’t win anything at the end.”
What’s more, Arsenal after match round-18 have thirty-six points and are second on the league table with a six points deficit behind the league leaders, Liverpool who are not displaying any signs of relentlessness and have an outstanding game in hand.
