Morocco in their preparation towards the much anticipated and historical international football competition organized by the highest football administrative global body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) in the next decade is set to construct the world’s largest stadium to ever host the game of football in the world.
FIFA after awarding three countries from two different continents in the world the hosting right for the 2030 World Cup which will serve the world with over a century of games in the competition, Africa’s very own, now the footballing hub of the continent, Morocco among one of the countries who have won the bid to host the tournament have already initiated preparations.
Yesterday, December 27, 2024, the Moroccan government in consultation with their various key stakeholders have announced their well-thought through plan and taken into consideration, value for money of their public purse as they venture into the construction of the world’s largest stadium which will be hosting games in the 2030 World Cup.
The stadium is envisioned to dethrone world largest stadiums likes Rungrado 1st of May Stadium has a mouthwatering capacity of 114,000 , which is regarded as the largest stadium, followed by the Sportify Camp Nou, which also has a capacity of 99,354, including Rose Bowl stadium, with a capacity of 89,702.
Now, the Moroccan are next in line to build a sports stadium which will have a breath-taking capacity of 115,000 built with a sum total valued cost of USD$490 million within a three-year period starting in the year 2025 up until 2028.
More so, the stadium would be constructed in the nation’s capital, Casablanca and after completion, it will be named Stade Hassan II.
Who is Hassan II?
Hassan II is a former king of Morocco who had the mandate as the monarch of Morocco since 1961 till he die in the year 1999. Further, he is the eldest son of King Mohammed V who was a member of the Alawi dynasty.
The historical stadium will be encompassed with numerous training facilities, athletics stadium, gyms, playgrounds, hotels, exhibition centers, conference centers, shopping centers, and four car parks which has a hosting capacity not less than 10,463 vehicles.
