Nigeria have booked a spot in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as they brushed away the Black Galaxies in a convincing victory.
The second-leg of Ghana‘s Black Galaxies qualifying game against Nigeria had gathered a lot of interest from the footballing world as it sought to determine which of the great footballing nations in Africa was making it into the tournament which is scheduled to take center stage in the month of February, 2025.
Ghana prior to the game had keen interest in grabbing some form of a consolation price as the men’s senior team would not make any appearance in the 2025 African Cup of nations which will be hosted by Morocco.
Hence, after both teams failed to kill the game in the first leg in Ghana, Nigeria were in high hopes and the Black Galaxies were quite optimistic to find the need results in order to secure a spot in the tournament.
However, after the first twenty-five minutes of the first-half, Nigeria had completely disposed off Ghana by three goals sponsored by Sodiq who scored on the 19th minute, after three minutes, Junior N scored an amazing goal and in the next three minutes, Saviour did not hesitate to make the most out of the goal scoring opportunity to make it 3-0.
After, the Ghana regrouped and began to display some of resilience which propelled them into keeping their calm defensive and build some form of momentum which can get them back into the game and that did not pan out well as they ended the first-half in a three goals deficit.
The inception of the second-half only displayed the inconsistencies of Ghana’s team in football games as they only succeed in grabbing a rubber-stamp goa, kind courtesy, Stephen Amankona.
Therefore, the two legged final game between Ghana’s Black Galaxies and Nigeria ended in a 1-3 aggregate score line which hands over the spot to Nigeria making an appearance in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) which will experience three African countries, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania co-hosting it for the first time.
