Chelsea’s aim is to make the top four not to win the Premier League – Owuraku Ampofo

Chelsea FC after conceding a 1-2 defeat to mid-table club, Fulham FC at the Stamford Bridge Stadium has set ablaze dozens of criticism from the football fans across the world and that has got Ghanaian sports journalist and true-and-true Blue, Owuraku Ampofo fuming as he sort to provide more details with regards to his club’s target in the 2024/25 English Premier League.

Now, the conversation surrounding Chelsea’s week-in-week-out amazing performances which has made them the second best team in the English top-flight hence, are being tagged as one of the title contending sides in the league made the manager of the team, Enzo Maresca in one of his post-match interviews address the subject.

“For me, we are not ready. You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title… absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. We are not ready but we are happy the fans can dream,” Maresca stated in his presser on December 15, 2024.

He further added that, Chelsea as a team cannot make the top four should they decide not to win the numerous forthcoming games plus, Owuraku Ampofo then rubbished those pundits and football fans who were selling out the notion that, if Chelsea as a club does not want to be identified as a Premier League title contending side, then they should grab the available three points in any game they play.

“… to do that, games need to be won not lost, hence the frustration. The fact that a team says they are not in a title race does not mean they should not go into games to win,” Owuraku Ampofo iterated.

How Chelsea’s season is fairing:

The most successful club in London, the Blues this season the their new manager, Enzo Maresca have really found a much stabilize feet in the English premier league taking into consideration, their performances in the last two seasons.

Chelsea after eighteen games this season are second on the league table with 35 points, just seven points behind the team at the top, Liverpool FC who have only lost just a game this season.
