Juventus FC have identified Portuguese center-back, Antonio Silva, 21, as one of their priority transfer target in the 2025 January transfer window, hence are preparing a bid in order to secure the much rated young central defender.
Antonio Silva has a transfer release clause valued at thirty-eight million euros which clearly signals the defending prowess possessed by the youngster. However, he is currently under a long term contract with Portuguese top-flight side, Benfica and therefore, might determine whether he is untouchable in the upcoming transfer market.
Meanwhile, Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes in the last couple of hours has disclosed the interest of his client wanting to join Juventus FC in an interview with British based media outlet, Sky Sports.
“Juventus want Antonio and he wants Juventus. He is an important player with great qualities and admired by the biggest clubs in the world. The decision is on Benfica… let’s see, we have to wait for their call,” Jorge Mendes said in the interview.
Prior to the last summer transfer window, Antonio Silva had attracted keen interest from clubs like Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and many other clubs in the top five European leagues but did not make any move due to Benfica’s asking price which seem to be more demanding to most of the clubs for a young defender.
In the 2024/25 Liga Portugal, Antonio Silva has made seven league appearances, found the back of the net once and provided one assist as well which is an impressive output for a defender who is not a definite starter for Benfica.
