Emmanuel Adebayor has angrily reacted to Jamie Carragher’s comments with regards to the AFCON tournament.
The continental men football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football has seen many divergent opinions in the last few years both positive and negative depending on the interest of the individual.
In the last few days, many Africans have expressed their displeasure with respect to the comments made by Ex-England and Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher after his submission on the ripple effect clubs in Europe are going to incur when the African Cup of Nations takes center stage in December.
In Carragher’s opinion, the AFCON has no significance hence, it only affect the clubs as they are forced to free their their African players to come compete for their nations whiles club games in Europe are in progress.
Now, Emmanuel Adebayor has also shared his opinion in responds to the comments made by Jamie Carragher, “these comments are total disrespect not only to AFCON but also to all Africans. It’s always the same when AFCON comes around; clubs hesitate to release players, and critics try to downplay its importance. I played against World-class defenders in the Premier League, and Carragher is not one of them,” he said.
