Hohoe United FC have settled for the ultimate severe consequences as Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee have officially ruled on the club’s decision to quit participating the ongoing 2025/26 campaign.
After successfully securing promotion into the Ghana Premier League as one of the newly promoted clubs qualified to participate in the 2025/26 season at the inception of this season, the Volta-region based club astonishingly pulled out from the league with their own reasons.
Hohoe United’s bases for officially discontinuing their Ghana Premier League campaign was stemming from numerous “unfair” judgements meted to them from various rulings from the Disciplinary committee.
Citing a few of these rulings would be the three home-games suspension plus a GHc30,000 cash fines, slapped on the Hohoe United on 25 January 2026. This ruling sparked some fury in the club as the =y responded to the ruling.
“Without a hearing, without producing the original referees report, and without any reasoned analysis,” these were the stipulated word on Hohoe United’s letter as they addressed the GFA’s disciplinary Committee’s ruling.
Fast forward, yesterday, May 1, 2026, the Ghana football Association in accordance with their own statues have ruled on Hohoe United’s decision to step-out of the ongoing Ghana premier League.
Details Of The Ruling
The Ghana football Association in their ruling stated the fouls committed by Hohoe United in their quest to unduly exempt themselves from the ongoing, “the decision, delivered on Friday, May 1, 2026, follows the club’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2025/26 Ghana premier League campaign-an act deemed a breach of Article 13 of the Ghana Premier Regulations,” the ruling stated.
Below are the following “consequences” of Hohoe United quitting to participate in the Ghana Premier League:
1.The Disciplinary Committee ruled that, all registered players of Hohoe United shall be granted Free Agent status by the GFA’s Status Committee.
2.Hohoe United has been demoted to compete in the Division Two under the Greater Accra regional Football Association
3.The club is expected to refund all forms of support received from the GFA for the 2025/26 season
What is Next For Hohoe United?
The club is permitted to file for an appeal to rendered all initial rulings ineffective, “in line with GFA Statues, the ruling allows Hohoe United FC, a three-day window from the date of notification to file an appeal with the Appeals committee if dissatisfied with the Disciplinary Committee Decisions.”
