Ipswich failed to secure their first win of the season as Jordan Ayew found the equalizing goal in stoppage time for Leicester City.
In the English premier league match-day ten games had Ipswich hosting fellow newly promoted side, Leicester City at the Portman Road stadium on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
As the referee blasted the whistle for the initiation of the game between the two sides, who have been struggling to settle down in the English Premier League (EPL) hence, have not really impressed football fans since the inception of the 2024/25 season.
Ipswich heading into the game had lost three and drawn two in their last five games while Leicester City who have a lot of experience in the EPL had won two, and lost three in their last five games in the league.
Further, after the first forty-five minutes plus stoppage had displayed both side playing very conservative football as though, they were under-studying their opponent which indicated that, both coaches had a plan heading into the game plus, Leicester’s Buonanotte in the 22nd minute was shown a cautionary card by the referee and in the 44th Kalvin Philips went into an avoidable tackle hence attracting a yellow card for himself for Ipswich.
Into the second half, after ten minutes into the game, Davis made the best out of a searching pass from Morsy to give the home side, Ipswich, a 1-0 lead in the 55th minutes of time played.
mavdidi out of frustration went into another tackle for him to be shown a yellow card on the 59th minute. After eleven minute, Leicester City’s coach initiated two changes, that is, substituting Wilfred Ndidi and Mavdidi for Soumare and MacAteer respectively.
Three minutes after, that is, 74th minute, Ipswich made a change, substituting Szmodics, Delap and introducing Clarke and Hirst respectively. Referee did not hesitate to show kalvin Philips his second yellow card in the match, hence exiting on the 77th minute and letting his team down.
Leicester further introduced more fresh legs into game as on the 8oth minute, pereira was taken-off for El Khannouss while on the 81st minute, a foul committed by Chalin earned him a yellow and the ten-men Ipswich side also initiated more changes as they brought on two players, Chaplin for Cajuste and Hutchinson out for Burns.
The coach of Leicester went further to introduce the much experienced and veteran forward, Jordan Ayew for Kristiansen out on the 86th minute. At the blast of the whistle by the referee for the resumption of the game, Cajuste won a yellow card and after two minutes, Hirst also won a cautionary card from the referee as they were failing to keep their calm in the game hence, were forced to cause fouls.
On the 94th minute, surging run from Jordan Ayew on the left wing of attack and a beautiful link up with Jamie Vardy who laid on a sublime pass to an untracking run by Jordan Ayew to literally pass the ball into the back of the net to give Leicester the much needed equalizing goal and the valuable point at the end of the match which ended 1-1 after the referee whistle for the final action of the game.
After ten league games played, Ipswich has five points with ten goals scored and conceding twenty-one goals and they find themselves as the eighteenth best team with Southampton and Wolves occupying the 19th and 20th spot on the league log respectively. While Leicester City lie on the fifteenth position with 10 points, 14 goals scored and 18 goals conceded. Both teams can have an opportunity if they begin to win games.
