The Moroccan men’s football national are set to miss out on veteran defender Romain Saiss as he announces his departure from international football after years of service.
After fourteen years of service to the Atlas Lions of Morocco, former captain, Romain Saiss in a social media post confirmed his decision to retire from the senior national.
In his post, the 35-year-old eulogized his days with the national team, claiming, he is calling it a day from, “the most beautiful chapter,” of his professional football career.
As he further expressed the ‘honor’ he derived from serving his motherland with pride – rising through the ranks to be appointed as the senior team captain, Saiss asserted that, it was “the greatest honour” adding that, the national team experience symbolized his, “roots, family and pride beyond sports.”
Whiles seizing a moment to reminisce on his childhood dreams, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender shared words of gratitude to all the coaching staff, players, and fans who have supported him.
