Tottenham Hotspur have named Cuti Romero as the new substantive club captain for the 2025/26 season.
The 27-year-old experienced center-back since joining the London club has established himself with outstanding performances for the Hotspur team.
In the last three-years, Cuti Romero has made over a hundred appearances for Tottenham Hotspurs in all competitions.
Romero is now set to step into the giants boots of the immediate past captain, Son Heung Min, who exited the club in the ongoing transfer window.
Sources have indicated that, the newly appointed manager for Tottenham Hotspurs, in consultation with the administration of the club have appointed the Argentine center-back, Cuti Romero as the new substantive captain.
Romero reacted to how delighted he was after being named the club firs captain, “today begins new season for us. One that is truly special to me. Becoming the first captain of this beautiful club is an incredible honor.
“I arrived here four years ago with a single dream: to write my name into the club’s history and leave my mark by winning a trophy, and I achieved that. Now, a new journey is in front of us. A beautiful season lies ahead and we will work together to relive the joy of that unforgettable day, May 21, 2025.” he said in a social media post.
Currently, Cuti is the most decorated player in the team after having won the 2022 FIFA World cup and multi COPA America titles plus clutching the 2024/25 Europa Cup against Manchester United.
Today, Romero has an opportunity to increase the number of title in the Tottenham’s trophy cabinet as they face Ligue-One giant, Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final.
