Rodri has voted Dani Carvajal ahead of Vinicius Jr who was the eventual occupied the second place in the 2024 Ballon D’Or.
In the 2024 Ballon D’Or awards, the Spanish and Manchester City defensive-midfielder, Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante was adjudged the best player for the year which sparked a whole lot of conversations with regards to why Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr did not win the best player award.
On Monday, November 11, 2024, Rodri in an interview with a local Spanish media firm, he claimed that the person to win the Ballon D’Or best player was him as he ironed out the significance of his work on the field with the Spanish national team and Manchester City which impacted his sides success in the 2024 footballing campaign.
Speaking in the interview, he was quizzed about his thoughts when he has the opportunity to pronounce judgement with respect to who secures the second and third spot in the nomination list. “I would vote Dani Carvajal second at the Ballon D’Or… and Vinicius as third.”
Subsequently, Rodri reacted to questions about he feels physically and whether he thinks he can make it back into full match fitness since the medical team have ruled him out of making it back into the 2024/25 season.
“I feel I can return already this season, yes. It is possible and I can make it happen. I am recovering now, no pressure… It is important to recover in the best way. But the season is long, there is the new Clubs’ World Cup… I can do it,” Rodri said.
