The Chelsea academy graduate, Josh Acheampong, 18, has officially signed a long-term deal which will keep him at the club in the next five seasons after featuring for the senior team in their recent UEFA Conference league group stage.
Now, the natural right-back having progressed through the Chelsea youth teams is fully vested with the culture of the club is certainly looking like the possible replacement for the team’s captain who has not been reliable due to injuries in the last two and a half campaigns.
Further, England’s Under-19 international has sealed his first professional contract with Chelsea today, December 18, 2024 after he has shown gross appreciable improvements as a young versatile right full-back, having the capacity to play as a right or left center-back.
He’s obviously a good addition to the senior team squad as Enzo Maresca since the beginning of the 2024/25 season has been a fan of the young lad and has always wanted to keep him rather than let him out on a loan to another club.
“I’m very happy he’s signed. Since pre-season, I was trying to understand the contractual situation. We are all convinced Josh can be a great player for this club. My personal opinion is he has to stay close to,” Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca iterated.
Josh Acheampong has signed a five-year contract hence, he will be out of contract from Chelsea until 2029.
Meanwhile, Acheampong irrespective of his Ghanaian lineage was born in London, United Kingdom hence, has opted to play for the England national team as he’s currently an integral player of the England Under-19 team.
