President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has initiated a five member committee mandated to probe and find concrete evidence into all corruption cases which transpired in the out-going President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo’s government.
Today, December 18, 2024, President-elect through the pipes of the transition team is already rolling out one of his significant campaign promises to the Ghanaian people, which is to hold public servants who engaged in any form of corruption related activities accountable by legal means.
What’s more, the team’s responsibility as stipulated in the official statement signed by the spokesperson of the Mahama transition team, Mr. Felix kwakye Ofosu is to serve as a preparatory group who have the utmost responsibility to point out all public resources which have been mismanaged by individuals holding public offices for their personal gains.
“As a preparatory measure towards the rollout of H.E John Dramani Mahama’s promise to recover proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such corruption accountable when he assumes office, a team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources, on suspected acts of corruption.”
Now, the anti-corruption team has been made up of the Member of Parliament for North-Tongu Constituency, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah as the chairman of the group, former Auditor-General, Mr Daniel Domelevo, retired police officer, COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner, Mr Martin Kpebu, and an investigative journalist, Mr Raymond Archer.
The letter further asserted that, the next John Mahama’s administration would not leave any grubby government official involved in any corruption acts, “anti-corruption, with Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) as a major plank, formed a core part of H.E John Mahama’s policy platform in the 2024 campaign and he intends to hit the ground running on these commitments.”
