Social Media personality, Efia Odo has demanded that, the Ghana Police Service should immediately provided bailout for all arrested individuals who were during the #StopGalamseyNow demonstrations which took place over the weekend.
The protest which was organized by Democracy Hub began on Saturday 20th September 2024 and ended after day three, 22nd September 2024 in Ghana’s capital, Greater Accra region.
Further, the protest was to display utmost displeasure on the current disastrous state of the country’s forest reserves, polluted water bodies and deplorable state of the arable lands in the mining areas of Ghana.
Therefore, these protestors acted somewhat unlawful as stipulated by the press statement issued out by the Ghana Police Service and hence led to the arrest of some of the aggrieved protestors who were protesting against the on going illegal mining activities which is positioning the current on a time bomb.
The arrest of these protestors have been over 24 hours and relatives of the arrested protestors have been worried as they request for the freedom of their family members. These concerns have gotten the attention of some media personalities who are concerned while they demand for the freedom of arrested protestors.
Social media personality, Efia odo took to his social media platform requesting for the liberation of all arrested protestors as she claims they have done no wrong.
“Set us free from oppressors rule, who is our oppressor? Before, we used to blame the white man but if we search deeply it’s our own skin folk causing the oppression. Protestors arrested without bail for what exactly? Are we not allowed to care for the future of this country again?” She concluded.
