In the month of December, 1891, a sport which involved five players each on a side, representing two teams on a court crafted rectangularly with two decent heighted poles which held up high the glory in the game as basket was invented by Dr. James Naismith in Springfield, a suburb of Massachusetts with the intentions of conditioning young athletes during winter periods; the game is widely known in the world as basketball.
