2025/26 CAFCC: Asante Kotoko poised for action; Kwara United in shivering mode ahead of clash

2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup game between Asante Kotoko and Kwara United is set to go down – both clubs in anticipation to pick up positive results. 

As the preliminary double-header first game is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 21st of September, 2025, the Ghana Premier League giant, is in contention to represent Ghana at the CAF inter-club competition.

After years of not qualifying for any of the CAF inter-club competitions, the Porcupine Warriors would host Nigeria Premier league club, Kwara United with hopes of  booking a spot for the main tournament.

Update on Asante Kotoko’s preparation ahead of the game:

The Porcupine technical staff have indicated that, the former MC Algiers center-forward, Kwame Poku with his vast experience in the CAF inter-clubs competition would not be available for the game due an ankle injury he sustained in their first league game against Bechem United.

Further, inside sources have confirmed that, the technical team have revealed their trust in Albert Amoah, who has proven beyond any iota of doubt with respect to his quality as a proper out-and-out striker.

Meanwhile it is also fair to note that, Albert Amoah as a goal  poacher for Asante Kotoko has made thirty appearances, bagging sixteen goals. Plus, he is the top-scorer for his side in the 2025/26 season after matchday one.

Kwara United would be departing Nigeria in the early hours of tomorrow, Friday, 19th September, 2025 to Ghana’s capital, Greater Accra.

Meanwhile, they are expected to begin their team training at the Accra Sports Stadium later in the day.

Both clubs are yet to have a go at each other in any the CAF Confederations – Asante Kotoko would rely on the technical prowess of their manager, coach Karim Zito as they seek to replicate their resilience nature.

While on the other hand, Kwara United would be seeking to make a name for themselves should they pick up any result aside a loss at the home venue.
